Small Gray Cat

Starting off the work week with another awesome shop feature: Small Grey Cat.  My favorite item from this shop would have to be the Fifty Shades of Recycled Grey Plastic Tote/Purse.  It's really cute!  Check out the following Q & A to learn more about this great shop & it's owner.

Q: How did you come up with your shop name?
A: My husband actually came up with the name "SmallGreyCat" and I loved it. I have a little bit of a cat obsession. Just a crush, really.

Q: Do you only sell on Etsy?
A: As far as the online world goes, yes, I only sell on Etsy. Friends, co-workers, and family members also sometimes buy things from me.

Q: What inspires you?
A: I'm inspired by all sorts of things. I always catch myself looking at something and imagining what ELSE it can be. I guess recycling. Reusing, upcycling, repurposing, or whatever the trendy term these days is.

Q: What is the hardest part of what you do?
A: I really don't find any of it hard. Coming up with the shop name was probably my biggest challenge to date. Oh, that and crocheting plastic is a bit hard on the hands.

Q: What is one of your favorite items from your shop?
A: My favourite items are probably the texting mittens. I remember how excited I was the first time I made an actual mitten. I was so surprised I could do it. That feeling has kind of stuck with me.

Q: What made you decide to use Etsy instead of sites like ArtFire and MadeItMySelf?
A: I have never heard of these sites until now.

Q: Is Etsy your only "job", or is it something you do on the side?
A: Etsy is definitely something I do on the side. I have a boring nine-to-five (thirty) in real life. I make a lot of the items I sell while at work, which gives an indication of how mindless my job is. I wish I just crafted for a living, but I would starve.

Q: Are you attending any art shows in the future?
A: No.

Q: Any future projects?
A: Im planning to stock up on some more fall and winter items soon. Mittens, hats, slippers and such.

Word of advice from Small Grey Cat: The only piece of advice I can give is "YouTube". That's where I learned the basics of nearly everything I make.

Having a 9 to 5 where you can do your craft work doesn't sounds too bad! I love the mittens :)
