World Aids Day 2009

I totally did not realize that today, December, 1, 2009, was World AIDs day. I caught a peek at Alisha Keys LIVE on Youtube (currently watching/listening to it). Amazing artist I must say. I won't explain what AIDs is, as I hope you already know what it is. If you don't know what it is, you can go to UNAIDS or IAS to learn about it. However, I just want to take a few moments to inform you on how you can help. But first, let's just take a minute or two and pray for all the people, young and old, that are struggling with AIDs/HIV and all the families that have lost loved ones from this terrible disease. -There were 7,298 new HIV diagnoses in 2008.
-There are over 80,000 people living with HIV in the UK.
-Over a quarter of people living with HIV in the UK don't know that they are infected.
-31% of people who are diagnosed with HIV are diagnosed late.
-The number of people living with HIV has risen from around 8 million in 1990 to 33 million today, and is still growing.
-Around 67% of people living with HIV are in sub-Saharan Africa.
-More than 1 million people are living with HIV in the USA and more than half a million have died after developing AIDS.
